A Glimpse of Grace
It was a telling sign that, at the college we attended—where almost everyone knew almost everyone—only a handful of the six hundred students knew both of us. It was a telling sign that one of those few warned Nancy, “Stay away from him.”
It was a telling sign that, after giving us personality tests, the advisor of the campus ministry who did our premarital counseling, said, “You should really reconsider.” Although we were strongly opposite on every measure of the personality test, we had two things in common: we were both raised by two alcoholic parents and we both loved Jesus. What could go wrong?
As it turned out, plenty.
But the grace of God has been more plenteous. And, throughout our decades of marriage and team ministry, we’ve gotten better at paying attention to signs. In fact, it’s our calling as interpreters and translators. Thank you for joining us as we follow signposts on the kingdom road.
